Penny Ross has had an eclectic professional life. Became a rock and roll publicist at a great time – post-Beatles, but the rise of Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, the re-birth of the Kinks – all of whom were clients. Also was publicist for Elektra Records, Epic Records, ABC FM Radio, before they were killed by corporate play lists. Then wrote about said rock and roll plus dance and theater for another ten years for Daily News, Village Voice, SoHo News and many many magazines. After a break, she went to work for NYFOS – doing whatever needed doing for subscribers and in the office – and stayed for six years. Since then, she have been semi-retired, as they say, and looking for the next big thing, while listening to as much of the live music New York offers as I can manage.
