Stonewall at 50 / PRIDE 2019

Celebrate PRIDE and the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall uprising with two concerts in June 2019 at the LGBT Community Center in the West Village. NYFOS Next: Laura Kaminsky & Friends features new works by lesbian composers, included the world premiere of a collaboratively created song cycle by Kaminsky, Jennifer Higdon, Laura Karpman, Paula Kimper, Nora Kroll Rosenbaum, and new face on the scene, Kayla Cashetta, who will all set new poems by Elaine Sexton. Then NYFOS brings back Manning the Canon, a beloved program of songs by gay composers, which Anthony Tommasini, writing for The New York Times, called “insightful and imaginative, touching and funny.” more

Experience “a breath of fresh air on the scene of serious vocal music” (Q ON STAGE) at our new music series curated by today’s most exciting composers. Recently described as “one of the great originals of her generation” by The New Yorker’s Alex Ross, composer/performer Kate Soper curates and performs a program of fresh and fascinating takes on vocal music, including excerpts from her new opera The Romance of the Rose. Composer of As One, the most performed opera by a living composer, Laura Kaminsky curates and hosts a salon of contemporary songs by LGBT identified composers and librettists, including the world premiere of a collaboratively created song cycle by Kaminsky, Jennifer Higdon, Laura Karpman, Paula Kimper, Nora Kroll Rosenbaum, and new face on the scene, Kayla Cashetta, who will all set new poems by Elaine Sexton. more

Mainstage Series Subscription
