Manning the Canon

Daniel McGrew, tenor
Scott Murphree, tenor
Efraín Solís, baritone
Matt Boehler, bass
Steven Blier, piano

A revival of this beloved NYFOS program, which Anthony Tommasini of The New York Times called “insightful and imaginative, touching and funny,” pays tribute to gay composers and celebrates gay lives. From Schubert’s “Der Gondelfahrer” (set to a text by his roommate and probable paramour, Johann Mayrhofer) to John Wallowitch’s hilarious cabaret song “Bruce,” Manning the Canon is a vital and engaging musical portrait of life, love, and loss in the world of gay men over two centuries.
