"How many concerts
have the narrative
power of exciting
theater?
How
many concerts
offer such a rich
sense of discovering
new and vital music?
This is what we want all
concerts to be, though
we know it rarely
happens. An evening
of discovery and
enchantment,
a
reminder of how
illuminating a journey
a great song can be."

Caramoor's Terrance W. Schwab Vocal Rising Stars:

From Lute Song to the Beatles:  Songs of the British Isles

Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center, 129 W 67th St., New York, NY

This program of British songs offers four centuries of wit, sentiment, and a uniquely European soulfulness. The wide-ranging program has it all: a bawdy lute song from the Renaissance, an aria by an English student of Mozart, a quintessential bit of topsy-turvy from Gilbert and Sullivan, songs by Britten and Quilter, a raft of beautiful ballads, and dessert courses by Noel Coward and the Beatles. The concert will feature a cast of exciting young voices as NYFOS marks its tenth annual residency at Caramoor Center for the Music and the Arts with pianists and hosts Steven Blier and Michael Barrett.
