Elizabeth Ellis Hurwitt

Executive Director Elizabeth Ellis Hurwitt joined NYFOS in November of 2000 after four seasons as Executive Director of the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival.

A longtime aficionado of vocal repertoire and language, Ms. Hurwitt has written program notes and contributed book and disc reviews to Schwann Opus and Schwann Spectrum. In her work with New York Festival of Song, Ms. Hurwitt has had the pleasure of continuing contact and collaboration with composers and song interpreters she has admired since her youth, and the joy of supporting a new generation of exceptional singers and composers of vocal literature.  Under Ms. Hurwitt's directorship, NYFOS has achieved new levels of fiscal growth and stability; a broadened public awareness of its unique contribution to culture; and increasingly productive relationships among the outstanding artists, staff, board, funders and audience members that constitute NYFOS's own extraordinary arts community.
